It’s the annual Discovery Channel feeding frenzy as SHARK WEEK has begun. That got us thinking…which members of the Pens have suited up in shark skin as well?
In celebration of all things fins, we’re rolling out a daily Pens-Sharks connection photo, with a little about each player’s time with both teams. Check back each day this week for another member of this exclusive school.
MONDAY, JULY 6
Defenseman Brendan Buckley spent three-and-a-half seasons (2000-04) with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, posting 44 points (7+37) in 268 games. He still holds the team record for consecutive games played (226 from February 17, 2001 to January 10, 2004) and ranks ninth on the team’s all-time games played list.
Buckley was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets on February 10, 2004, and finished out the season playing for the Syracuse Crunch. Four cities in the next four seasons followed for Buck, before he signed on with the Worcester Sharks prior to the 2008-09 season.
In 67 games during his lone season with the Sharks (but his second in Worcester, after one season as a member of the IceCats), Buckley recorded nine points (1+8) and 92 penalty minutes.
Buckley spent two more seasons playing overseas, and suited up in one game for the Chicago Wolves before hanging up the skates.
